FUSION BREW is a specialty drink bar that provides a "fusion" of the popular Eastern drink "bubble tea" and Western tea and espresso drinks. We serve hot, cold, or ice blended drinks. We also provide pastries and light snacks. Customers should feel welcome to come and "hang out" and study or just visit with friends. A wireless internet connection is provided for those needing that service. The store is in the "Junction Place" student apartments located at the South edge of the ISU campus at the corner of Kingley Street and Hovey Street.

Bubble tea is a drink that was developed in Taiwan in the mid 80’s, when street vendors served a frothy (bubbly) combination of tea, milk, and sweet flavored syrups to local schoolchildren. It experienced tremendous growth in Southeast Asia over the past 20 years. Now in countries like Taiwan, Hong Kong and the Philippines, bubble tea shops are on every street corner. Bubble tea made its way to the United States in the mid 90’s, first in cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver and Toronto, with New York, Houston, and Chicago soon following. These drinks are now best known for the black Pearl Tapioca that is most often added to the drink and sucked up in an oversized straw as the drink is consumed. Pearl Tapioca is a beadlike starch extract from sweet potato, cassava root and brown sugar. Pearl or bubble drinks, as they are now known, come in hundreds of flavors and various styles. Some are milk based while others are simply clear refreshing drinks mixed with fruit juice or flavoring. While the drinks are historically made with tea they can be readily enjoyed without tea at the customer’s request.

-FUSION BREW features a full service espresso bar. Our coffee has been carefully selected to provide a high quality drink that is “second to none” in the area.

-FUSION BREW also provides a wide selection of teas from around the world such as Darjeeling, Genmaicha, Assam, and Rooibos. These are fresh brewed as they are ordered to provide optimum flavor and aroma.

-If you would like something to snack on while at Fusion Brew we serve a variety of pastries (cinnamon rolls, muffins, brownies), stuffed grilled panini sandwiches, and hummus with a pita.
